Definitely Hawkhost.com for Linux Hosting. Reasonably priced, great customer service, and fast response. I got the hosting minutes after I have paid via the company credit card. There is a toll free phone where you can call. Their technical support person is very helpful, and you don't have to wait for long to get help. So far we are not getting any downtime yet.

DO NOT GET PHILHOSTING.NET. It is a nightmare being with that hosting. I got my hosting 4 freaking days after I paid. Their customer service is VERY VERY rude (I was even told that they have other customers than me!), and they respond slowly with their tickets. Their email services go down for 3 days straight without notification or explanation why it goes that way.

I am considering http://jodohost.com for Windows Hosting, but so far I have no experience with it. It's rating with http://hostjury.com seems good, so I'm willing to try, maybe purchase it next week.

I go with HostingPhil since they offer unlimited bandwidth for like 1.2k a year. If you could fit all of your websites in the storage of the WP-2 plan, then just redirect all of your websites there.

For shared hosting, I use bluehost. http://bluehost.com

• What do you get? Unlimited space/bandwidth/domains for around $8-$10 a month. The price varies depending on how many months you pre-pay. E.g. if you pay for a year, the rate is $7.95/month, for two years, it's $6.95/month, etc. -- price mentioned for illustration purposes only -- check the site for actual rates.

• you also get cpanel, fantastico, mysql, postgresql, ROR, the works...

• The only catch here is that you have a limited NUMBER of files. Unlimited yung space pero hindi yung DAMI ng files. But you probably won't hit this limit unless you have something like 50 sites hosted on one account. And in case you're wondering, yes, I hit the limit. That's how I found out the hard way about the limitations of this "unlimited" plan. It's supposedly in the Terms and Conditions so if you're feeling meticulous, go ahead and read it before you sign up.

For Linux VPS hosting, I use fivebean. http://fivebean.com

• I'm currently on their "mini" plan which is 35GB of space, 350GB of bandwidth, 384MB RAM burstable to 768MB - $10 a month (straight monthly billing, no setup fee, quit any time). Will upgrade to the next level soon because I'm hitting the RAM limit frequently now.

• Good uptime/support.

For Windows hosting, errr...N/A.

We currently have a Linux reseller account with a2hosting. My wife usually bundles her web design gigs with hosting. Our hosting account with A2 supports PHP/Python/RoR. We also get to have SVN hosting together with the reseller account.

We've been with them for a year with only one downtime (and only for several minutes). We're using mostly the PHP/MySQL features so I can't really comment on the Python/RoR support.

Dreamhost is my choice of hosting. Unli bandwidth and disk space (they always remind you not to abuse it), they have their own tools ala-CPanel's Fantastico. Very good online backup service for just $11 per month. Not that cheap but I like unli disk space (drools). Also, cool customer support.

Only prob with Dreamhost is that they have a reputation of having more downtimes than industry standard (99% uptime).

And yep, NO TO PHILHOSTING.NET. It's a shame they bear the country's name with their crappy service and their grumpy customer support agents...

My company has recently migrated to Amazon EC2. Formerly we were at Peer1.

Peer1 had good service, but we wanted the autoscaling features of EC2.

While evaluating EC2, I also came across Joyent. They use Solaris, and they claim they're several faster than EC2 at the same price point.

Are there other EC2 or Joyent users here?

My wordpress blog has been hosted with Marvinsweb.net for the past 4 years or so. Been happy with their service so I stick with them. :)

I have been a happy dreamhoster since 2005. Dreamhost has a lot of guides. I like its support for Ruby on Rails. Passenger doesn't come with an extra cost unlike Hostingrails.

I have also tried Slicehost.com and Linode.com VPS. The service is fair. Dreamhost, Slicehost and Linode do respond well to issues.

in Windows hosting, i'm planning to go for DISCOUNTASP.NET. the hosting features are way too good for the cost you pay. latest Microsoft web technologies (ASP.NET 3.5 SP1, windows 2008, sql server 2008, asp.net mvc support, and many more. i haven't tried it yet but i'm sure i'm going to have my site hosted by them. they also have too many positive reviews and recommendations by the ASP.NET community.
