Anyone knows? I've tried uploading a .htaccess file but it does not seem to work.

GoDaddy says they support .htaccess files: ".htaccess works on our Linux servers"

However, there seems to be reported cases where they don't support all the directives for .htaccess: .htaccess at godaddy

I'm not familiar with GoDaddy, but this is how I'd go about solving a similar problem:

  • Check if the option for showing hidden files is enabled.
  • You can also try to create the .htaccess file in GoDaddy and simply copy and paste the content that you need into the file.
  • You can also upload a file named htaccess.txt, upload it and rename it to .htaccess.

I think I read somewhere that it takes at least an hour for GoDaddy to detect your first .htaccess upload. Succeeding uploads/modifications after the first one should take effect immediately.
